2007 Legislative Update - Health Care Insurance Disclosure

Health Care Insurance Disclosure - Increasingly, as the cost of health care skyrockets to even greater unsustainable levels, incentives for the marketing of deceptive and even down right predatory minimum health insurance plans is growing.

CCAG fought for HB5496, which has been signed into law, in an effort to protect consumers from an increasing number of predatorily marketed, limited-benefit health care plans that often do little more than provide the illusion of having health care insurance. This legislation requires a statement of disclosure stating that the plan does not provide comprehensive medical coverage. We believe that the concept of disclosing such plans is in the consumers’ best interest but would rather have seen a prohibition on minimum benefit plans and will continue to fight to protect consumers from such plans.
